Simple web designs give a lot of benefits not just to the clients and users but also to designers as well. In this article we will give a rundown of the benefits and advantages of simplified web designs and how you can attain them.

1. Navigation.

Simple websites only includes important information. This makes navigation relatively easy. The key here is to be consistent. You need to put navigation elements in the same place on each page whenever possible. There must be a one main navigation menu. As much as possible do not use drop downs for navigation.

2. Simple web pages loads faster.

When you are designing, make it a rule that you make your file as small as possible. This is of course because of the fact that smaller files loads faster. With simple designs, you will likely be using simple style sheets and less number of HTTP requests.

3. Easy to scan website pages.

When visitors come across a certain website, scanning is the first thing that they do. They scan through the pages and look for something that they need, and when they don't find anything they will immediately hit back and move on. Thus as a designer, it is a must that you know how to create layouts that clearly presents what your site is all about. As a general rule, present your contents keeping in mind that visitors will scan it in "F" or "E" pattern.

4. Simple code is easier to debug.

When building your site, make sure that you simplify your code right from the very start. Simple codes are easier to debug, thus saving time for the designer.

5. Do not put unnecessary decorative elements.

Though it is still a case to case basis, make sure that you do not put decorative elements that do not serve any purpose. Though your field is designing, the clich "simple is beautiful" still applies to websites.

The causes for failure with MLM network marketing business opportunities are numerous and difficult to identify. Lack of planning and insufficient preparation are often lead to bankruptcy and even high debt. This is usually the case when you run for the quick money making opportunities advertised by scammers. You should first start from the idea that without a careful plan to follow, you can easily get lost along the way.

It is nevertheless true that MLM network marketing business opportunities require quick decisions. You also depend on cash to develop and achieve the objectives. Up-lines are very important in this part of your development. An up-line should train you for at least 30 days, with the mention that you need to work with those people who have made it well in their MLM business.

Network marketing books and online materials can help you make an idea. The business success depends on how well you know the products and how salable and unique they are. Great MLM network marketing business opportunities are easier to grasp online these days, therefore, determine whether you will work online, offline or combine both.

Consider creating a web site because you need prospects and down-lines to find you easily. Calling friends and relatives and trying to convince them join the program is an embarrassing and very unpleasant way of promoting your business. Real MLM network marketing business opportunities are those when people contact you asking to become down-lines. Other approaches to recruitment are more difficult and painstaking, not to mention that they have lower chances of success.

Get better at what you do, that is the key to winning money. Work smart, follow up prospects, be positive in the entire business approach, listen to customers, know your products and be well-intended! If you stick to these working principles lots of things can change for the better. Without paying attention to details or following a careful plan, you can hardly speak, let alone grasp, MLM network marketing business opportunities. You have to put time into business, and prosperity will come in time. Be positive, committed and practical with every action and you'll have great rewards!

Blogs are the current trend in online marketing strategies and the majority of website owners maintain their own blogs with the aim of drawing in more web traffic. Even personal sites are now presented in blog format. Easy-set-up blogging platforms such as BlogIt and Wordpress are very popular and keep attracting hundreds of new blog writers every day. There are millions of bloggers from around the world making their presence known on the World Wide Web. With so many blogs, it's hardly a revelation when you find out not all blogs are interesting to readers.

Sadly, once they've created a blog, the majority of bloggers simply put it aside to take care of other more pressing matters in their daily lives. The once important need to tell the world about what they think goes away and the blog post content just gets too old to interest anyone. Keeping your blog interesting takes some effort and presenting the content creatively will definitely give an extra edge.

In principle, there are only two methods to maintain an interesting blog and keep the visitors returning all the time. The first step is to find a good topic which follows news stories, publications, incidents and issues etc that are of general interest to the public.

Blogging is about keeping your readers interested and not letting things get dull and boring. Topics must be broadened to include a variety of interests, which will get more people to comment and discuss their views. Never hesitate to blog about something you feel people will be interested in.

If your intentions are to draw as much web traffic as possible, you simply have to concentrate on writing interesting things for the worldwide readers. Of course, topics such as religion, politics, racism and controversial sciences are better left undiscussed, because the goal is to share ideas and opinions on common ground and avoid discriminative discussions. New content always attracts more people, so it's a good idea to update your blog frequently.

The second rule of blogging is locating good links. Without writing long essays about things that may interest people, you can simply find some interesting stories, articles or discussions on the web and provide links to them from your blog.

Use your blog posting space to talk about why a visitor should check it out and what they can get from visiting that specific link. The trick here is to get the visitors and direct them to another place to read interesting content, while achieving your goal of bringing in traffic as well as keeping the blog interesting.

Producing the best blog or locating it in the huge internet world is quite a daunting task. Not surprisingly, you will run out of interesting topics, so the trick is to keep your eyes open for breaking news and stories to make your blog interesting.

There is only one reason to build a website or create a blog; to get people to read your message. It doesn't matter whether you created your website or blog for fun, to share your views about a subject important to you, or to make money, the more visitors to your site, the better.

Of course, not all website visitors are equal. Ideally, a high percentage your website visitors should be folks interested in the subject of your site, not surfers who wind up there by accident.

And, it's better still if your traffic is free...if it comes as a result of good search engine rankings or free links on other websites rather than from paid advertising.

Think about these things for a minute and the first million dollar "secret" becomes obvious. If you want your website to get as much traffic as possible...if you want that traffic to be targeted, good search engine rankings are critical.

Nobody can argue against the often made statement that "content is king" in developing a good website and in achieving enviable search engine rankings. And, if you emphasize the wrong keywords on your website and in your promotional activities, you're sunk. But, anything and everything else you do will not get you where you want to be in the search engine rankings without an aggressive, ongoing link building effort.

Many website owners have received thousands of links (literally) by writing articles not unlike this one. If well received, a single article can result in nearly 1,000 links. And, there are organizations which will distribute your articles for a fee, and software programs which enable you to do so pretty quickly and easily.

Requesting links on individual websites can also lead to a big boost in your search engine rankings. And, there are software programs that automate the process of identifying websites on subjects related to yours and contacting their webmasters. Alternatively, you can accomplish the same things manually, but it will be far more time consuming.

The organization I oversee has offered a free, ten lesson website promotion course for nearly ten years. During that time, website owners have told us, again and again, that the most helpful of our ten lessons has been the one on link building.

Webmasters who want as much traffic as possible (and who among us doesn't?) need to commit to a focused, aggressive link building effort. If they do, their efforts are almost certain to be rewarded.

The basic thing to look for when going for multiple websites in a same web server account is as follows: Different web hosting companies offer packages that let you set up multiple sites on a single account and almost all will let you set up multiple accounts. If you are looking forward to operate multiple websites they provide some useful information regarding the prices of domain name registration and web hosting.

If your sites are related to one another and you want to link them together, having different IP addresses can sometimes help your site rank higher in the search engines.

Separate accounts are self-explanatory, so let's look at reseller accounts. As a reseller, you are basically acting as an agent for the hosting company - a middleman between them and the end user.If you do choose to host all your sites with one company, there are essentially 3 choices - separate accounts for each site, a reseller account where they are all hosted or a dedicated server, again where they are all hosted. If you are happy with the hosting company you're using for your existing website(s), one advantage of using them for another site is the fact that you know they offer good service and support. They might also offer discounts for multiple sites, so your costs might be lower if you stay with them again.

Hosting on a dedicated server gives you complete control over the web server. You may install any software you want, any operating system you want and you can allocate resources like memory and hard disk space however you want to divide it up between your sites.

The disadvantage of a dedicated server is that you are responsible for maintaining the server and sometimes even for the technical side of things. If you aren't familiar with the technical side of running a web server, you may need to choose a managed dedicated server, where the hosting company looks after these issues. The idea is that you can set up your own company offering web hosting that is ultimately hosted by the company. You don't have to resell this hosting however - you can use the hosting services for your own websites, essentially "reselling" the hosting to yourself.

If you've tried to increase web site traffic with search engine marketing and search engine optimization but you still aren't seeing the kind of web site traffic that you want to have it might be time to consider investing in some web advertising. There are different options when it comes to web advertising but the styles of web advertising used the most by businesses is and paid search advertising. Paid search advertising is a good option if you've already tried search engine marketing and search engine optimization because your site is already well set up for paid search advertising. Paid search advertising is paying to make sure that a link to your site and a description of site is placed at the very top of a search engine results page.

This is a smart move because studies have shown that people who are searching for a site will usually click on any one of the first five links at the top of the search engine results page and then they will stop. Consumers almost never click through to the second page of search engine results after doing a search. So paying to make sure that your site is at the top of the search engine results page can be a very effective way to drive traffic to your website. Figuring out how to manage your paid search advertising can be a little difficult if you're not used to how web advertising works so you're better off hiring a paid search management company to oversee your paid search advertising. When you're setting up a paid search to increase web site traffic the keywords and key phrases that you choose need to be chosen carefully. A qualified paid search management company can help you set up your paid search to maximize the time and effort you've already put into using search engine marketing and search engine optimization on your website to increase website traffic.

Using paid search to increase web site traffic can be a very cost effective way to get the most of your search engine marketing. Essentially paid search web advertising is just giving your search engine marketing a boost and making sure that people see a link to your site before all your competitors. If your website deals with a popular topic then using paid search web advertising is really like insurance that your site make it onto the first page of the search engine results page.

Would you like to earn a decent salary from the snuggles and comforts of your own house? Sure it may sound swell, but really, would you like to? I make money with my computer from my own home office and you can too.

Building a solid internet business takes a lot of dedication and time. These two components will get you where you need to be. Don't buy into the hype that you can start a world renowned business within a few days.

You can build your business and get a piece of the big online earnings pie. You can use a Macintosh computer or a PC. Either will do just fine as long as you have some motivation and focus to go along with it.

Do you know how you want to start making money? If I were you, I would seriously consider becoming an affiliate of someone else's product at first. This will allow you to grow and learn some marketing techniques before you go and make your own product.

I only want to suggest that you start as an affiliate marketer because people who begin by both creating their own product and marketing it, end up failing. The reason for this is that as a newbie, you have no idea how to properly promote your product.

Internet marketing newsletters are a great way to learn product promotion. If you are a beginner this is even more important, as many newsletters teach a great deal of information all for free.

The computer you are using right now could be earning you hundreds of thousands of dollars within a few years. The best part of it is that you only need to work a few hours each week.

What have you got to lose with giving online marketing a try? You never know, it may just in fact be your "thing" from now on.

As a webmaster, you may probably want to make some money online. If you are an active member of some webmaster forum, you should know that a lot of webmasters like you will try to make money online with affiliate marketing. Yes it is very true that you can make money with affiliate marketing. And it is also considered one of the best ways to make money online.

People who are working in the field of affiliate marketing are usually called affiliate marketer. There will be some sponsors which will run various affiliate programs. You will be joining these programs and promote the affiliate products of the sponsor. The is how affiliate marketing works.

The most essential step when you work in the field of affiliate marketing is probably to choose some products to promote. You will try to think of a product which match your interest or hobby. If you love cooking, you may try to promote some kitchen ware or products related to cooking.

The next step is to join an affiliate program which sells the products you would like to promote. You can try to search it using the search engine.

Now, you can jump to the step of promoting the affiliate products. However, you may not really know how you can promote the products. One of the ways is to create a content website. You will be promoting the products in the site. You will try to create some articles in your website such that the contents of you site will be related to the products you are going to promote.

In order to make money, you have to promote the affiliate products with the affiliate links you get from the affiliate program. This is why you have to create a website. You will be using the affiliate site to promote the affiliate links. And you will be paid by the sponsor when someone purchase through your affiliate links.

It is also very important for you to drive tons of traffic to your website. Concerning the ways to drive traffic, the possibility is just unlimited. Yet one effective way is to join some link exchange program. You will be referring visitors to other websites while other sites will also refer visitors to your site.

One of the key of making money with affiliate marketing is that you need to have patience. You will not be able to make money if you do not have the patience to wait for the affiliate site to be mature.

What got you started in internet marketing? Were you trying to make a few extra bucks every month? Or were you trying to get out of a job you hated and work for yourself full time like I was?

How's it working out for you? If you're like most people in this market, you haven't reached your goals. You might not even be making enough to cover your costs every month.

If that's the case, there's something you need to think about...

Do you see this as a money-maker or as a business?

It might not seem like there's much difference but there's a subtle, but important one.

You see, a money-maker is something that can make you some money. It might even make you a lot of money. But there's no security in it. It could all come falling down around you if something changes one day.

Just ask all the people who went from making thousands of dollars in Adsense every month to making nothing when Google clamped down on all the spammy autogenerated "portal" websites.

A business, on the other hand, can be a money maker but it's built with a solid foundation. There is more to it than some trick for getting your site ranked well for a while.

You provide useful information, products or services to your customers. You would actually be proud to be associated with what you offer, instead of hiding your identity because you don't want anyone to know all those crappy websites are yours.

Your business is an asset. If you wanted to, you could sell it because you can show that it has value. Just what that value is depends on how much time and effort you put into making it successful.

Quit chasing the dream and going from one new technique to another. Start building a business. Focus on something of value and work like heck at it until it's either successful or you know you've done everything you can to make it so.

If you did everything you could and it still didn't work, don't despair. Learn from your efforts and move on to another strategy until you find the one that works.

Believe me, you'll make a lot more money in the long run with a successful business than you will with a successful money-maker.

When it comes to website traffic, the old saying "the more the merrier" doesn't exactly apply. Simply having lots of traffic will not increase the number of sales you have. Your goal in creating traffic is to attract targeted traffic, which will in turn, bring you more paying customers. You can have a lot of traffic coming to your website, but if they are not interested in your product or service, what good will it do to have them visit your site?

If you do a search on the Internet for ways to increase traffic to your site, you will find websites that sell software or monthly membership packages that promise to bring traffic to your site. Don't be fooled by these costly gimmicks. There are many ways you can increase traffic to your site for free.

What these companies don't tell you is that one of the methods they use to drive traffic to your site is paying people to "surf" the Internet. People log into a website, enter a password and their computer will automatically "surf the net", displaying different websites.

However, the person that logged in isn't necessarily paying attention to the screen - or even looking at it. The company that you paid may be driving "traffic" to your site in terms of visitors, but that doesn't guarantee more customers.

It may sound like a contradiction, but promoting free items can also bring in bad traffic. Yes, you may attract more visitors, but a lot of those people just want a "freebie". They might not really care about the services or products you provide, and once they get that "freebie", they may never return to your site again.

Now, that doesn't mean you should never offer free items they can definitely help increase sales in certain situations, such as a "buy this ebook and receive this free special report" offer.

Trading links and participating in banner exchanges may sound good in theory, but again, if targeted traffic isn't coming in, your sales won't be affected. Remember, traffic doesn't equal customers. If you have a site related to babies, it doesn't make sense to trade links with a site related to sport fishing.

Always keep your target market in mind. Who is your audience? Why should they visit your site? Having fresh, relevant, timely, and informative content will attract quality traffic. Once people come to know your site as a source of quality information, they will return when they need to learn something new. The more quality traffic that comes in, the more customers you will have.

By staying away from bogus websites offering promises of high numbers of traffic and sticking to proven methods of generating quality traffic, you will not only increase your site's traffic, you will also increase your conversion rates.

If you do business online, you know how important it is to have a website. Your website is your "store front"; it welcomes new customers from around the world. The graphics you choose play a major role in your website's success or failure.

First and foremost, professional-looking graphics lead to a professional-looking website. If your graphics are blurry, out of focus, or simply look haphazardly put together, the whole look of your website will take a turn for the worse. When a new customer visits your site, they will assume you are an amateur or that you don't care enough to do a quality job, and they won't stick around for long.

To be as effective as possible, the graphics you choose should help to create brand recognition and convey the message you are trying to send to the world. Take Nike, for example. Their famous "swoosh symbol" is featured on their website, as well as pictures of shoes, athletes, and other sports-minded images.

Nike's concept, "Just Do It," is well represented by the images and graphics that are placed on the company's website. Think for a moment about how you would feel if, upon arriving on the Nike home page, you were greeted with pictures of cookies, cake, and ice cream. You would surely be confused and would probably start looking for the website you were actually after in the first place.

This idea applies in equal measure to you and your company's web page. Visitors that are confused by the images they find will not stick around. You are also less likely to be linked from other sites and any affiliate programs you use will certainly be less successful.

Asking other businesspeople to join up with you in an online affiliate program brings with it a certain level of responsibility. Since you are requesting that they sell your products and services, you will want to have high caliber graphics on your website. Otherwise, affiliates will be hard to find. They will not be able to advertise or promote your products if you provide them with poor quality graphics.

Becoming part of a link exchange means that others will display the image you present them with on their website. If you give them a low quality image that will detract from the visual quality of their websites, they will be much more likely to refuse your offers at making a professional partnership. Any graphic you use as part of a link exchange should be of the very highest quality.

Graphics and images are clearly a very important part of any online business. Graphic designers can be hired to help you if you are not familiar with the use of graphics software. Although this presents an extra cost, it will prevent you from losing money because customers would find your product to be of an inferior quality. Paying for the help of a real professional is worth the extra money you'll have to spend.

Is article marketing part of your traffic generation toolkit? If so, be sure you're submitting at an article directory that actually pays you for your articles. Get more information at http://www.articlesgoneviral.com

Blogs and social bookmarking sites are just some of the places that depend on new content daily in order to present to the internet world a way to reach out to people. If new content is what you need in order to present the best to your traffic, then you will want to check out article marketing in order to jump your traffic up to twice as much per day. Article marketing is the key to your success.

Article marketing is one of the best tips that a person with a business, website, blog, or other online tool to promote will ever learn. Article marketing is relatively cheap and can even be done for free if you can pull together some good, quality content for your website.

There are two different ways you can start with article marketing. You can brush off your writing skills and get to work writing articles yourself, or you can hire out this job. Many companies that provide article marketing are affordable and will be able to give your quality content that makes sense, is informative, and can bring in the traffic.

One of the most important qualities of article marketing is that you have good articles and that you also have many articles. The more people that you can reach with an article, the more traffic you will bring to your site. The more articles you have out on the internet, the larger your scope will be. This is important when you are trying to run a business on your website.

What makes article marketing work is the concept of search engine optimization. This concept uses common keywords in order to make your articles show up in a variety of different search engine keyword searches. Each article with the right amount of SEO keywords will give you the edge against your competition that are still depending on older, slower types of internet marketing.

If you are wondering how article marketing works, it's simple. Articles that are written should contain a balanced amount of keywords in order to drive traffic to the first the article, then the rest of the website. The keywords used should be common to what a person would type into a search engine while still making sense to the content of the article.

While other marketing strategies can work, nothing works as well as article marketing. With article marketing, you will be leaving your prints all across the internet. No one will be able to turn the corner without seeing quality material from you. This is the best way to reach new people all the time. And once they are at your site, you will be able to provide them with the information that they have been looking for.

If you want the most powerful advertising tool on the internet, you will want to use article marketing. Article marketing is a way to get your name out there, bring people to your site, and see how you can turn a little website into a goldmine.

Many people find that working from home can be fun. It is not easy, though, to discover the type of income that can be achieved from home. When it is found, it sometimes is hard to control the projects. Here are a couple of suggestions which can help you manage your home based business and have it run without obstacles.

Be a slave driver. You heard right. You must become the very man or woman you wanted to escape from when they were your employer. Newly self-employed folks are usually making the mistake of lacking the direction and guidance they were used to when employed by somebody else.

Prepare schedules and stick to them. Do not allow yourself to become lazy. The best thing about working from home is the ability to set your own hours, do the things you like to do and work around them. The danger is that it is very easy to postpone your assignments and watch a ball game.

You must set reasonable work time and stick to it. Needless to say, if Sarah has a guitar lesson or Bobby does not feel well, you have the privilege to attend to their needs. But do not let the kids do it every day or you will not get any work done. Don't forget: no work-- no money.

Always be on guard. When you have a home based business you will have to keep your eyes on the next assignment, the next great opportunity, the next customer, depending on the type of business you have started.

It's easy to get complacent when things are going good and expect that they always will. At those times work at home people often just go with the flow and stop searching new opportunities. That is a big mistake. If the work suddenly dries up, so does your income. If you're working hard and have plenty of work, you certainly do not want to over burden yourself with more, but always keep an eye toward the horizon.

Always keep on top of where available work is being found. If online sales are your thing and you're making your fortune on eBay, or one of the other online shops, never stop looking at how others are operating and succeeding, and putting those ideas into action for your own business.

There is a lot of money to be made online, but to start a home based Internet business is not for the faint of heart. If you believe in yourself, then go out there and do it. You will be working for yourself from the comfort of your home and you will be making money online.

The primary work from home business credential is enthusiasm. Do you have a spot on obsession for your work from home business plan? A work from home business calls for an enormous amount of self-motivation. This level of commitment will only be there if you truly have a deep down desire for your work from home business.

Secondly, there is the issue of intellectual stamina. Any work from home business will have obstacles. Are you the kind of human being who will rise to those set-backs or will your work from home business sink because you can't handle the tough decisions?

Thirdly, you must have force and willpower. Your work from home business will demand that you be driven. Your work from home business will never get over the rough spots unless you have a strong positive rational attitude and a drive to make your work from home job thrive.

Your work from home venture will also require that you be the kind of person who lives for sovereignty. There will be no one else to blame in your work from home business. If your home based business is to succeed you must have a can-do attitude.

Finally, since almost all work at home opportunities are in some sort of service area you must be the kind of person who enjoys people. Remember; a work from home business is not for the shy introvert. The power of your communications with others will be the deviation in your work from home business.

Adding audio to your website can be a fun way to draw in more traffic and create variety for your readers. You have a lot of choices when it comes to what type of audio to add. The following are a few ways you can start incorporating audio into your website or blog.

At times, the internet can feel like a very cold and unfeeling place. By creating a welcome greeting, you will create a warm and personable feeling around your website. Your visitors will feel that you value them and will appreciate that you took the extra time to personally greet them.

When you walk into a store, you may not notice it, but more often than not, music is playing in the background. Music can create an ambiance and set a calm and soothing mood. Setting this type of atmosphere may induce your visitors to linger longer.

If you are using your website to sell something, you more than likely have a testimonial page. Instead of only having a written testimonial, why not include a picture of the person providing the testimonial as well as an audio clip? Your viewers can hear the testimonial straight from the proverbial horse's mouth.

Blogs are a great place to add audio. Blogs are generally a bit more personal and relaxed than a business website. Adding a bit of audio will help your readers get to know you and your personality. Plus, if you are in a rush and do not have time to type a post, you could simply record a few minutes of audio and post that instead.

Podcasts are very popular and new ones are being developed every day. It seems that people can't get enough of them. Adding one to your website can give your current readers a new type of content, as well as attract new visitors.

Many internet marketers have sales pages full of great copywriting that provides product descriptions and highlights the product's features and benefits. Creating an audio sales page would put a new spin on the standard sales page. You may not realize it, but QVC, the home shopping channel, is one of America's largest television networks and their ratings are very high. The hosts on this channel are very friendly and enthusiastic. The hosts' enthusiasm transfers to the viewers, and that motivates the viewer to buy the products being featured. Creating an enthusiastic audio for your sales page could have similar effects on your profits.

Audio enables you to connect with your customers in a whole new way. Why create a "question of the week" audio for your website? You could put up a form on your website or simply ask your readers to email you with their questions. Each week, you could take a few moments and read one of the questions and provide an answer. Your visitors will return each week to see if you chose their question. They'll get a thrill if you read their name on your audio message.

There are many, many ways to add excitement and variety to your website by adding audio. Get creative and think up some ways to integrate audio into your business plan, and see if it helps you grow your customer base.

Which search engine marketing strategy should one concentrate on, free or paid? You should think of search marketing like a sandwich: it just doesn't work with only one slice of bread!

To get the most traffic - and the most sales - combine the power of both organic (free) and pay-per-click search engine marketing. Together, they'll help you reach your goals of more traffic and more sales in both the short AND long term.

Use both search engine strategies in tandem so they build off of each other.

Step 1. Do your keyword research and then build a content-rich site around keywords your market is searching on.

Step 2. Now start your pay-per-click advertising. Each ad should be built on a single keyword. Use your PPC campaign to bring more visitors to your web site. Remember to measure your sales per visitor also known as your sales conversion rate. Your PPC search engine campaign will show you rather quickly which keywords bring in the most visitors and which result in the most sales and which ones are duds.

Step 3. Take thekeywords that are performing the best for you from your PPC campaign and edit your website to include those keywords. By emphasizing them in your content and code, you'll start ranking well for those keywords in the organic (free) listings (the regular listings that come up when someone uses a search engine).

You can even build landing pages when you find a group of top-performing keywords, you can build a page around them that contains specific information to appeal to searchers who are using those keywords.

PPC will bring first time visitors to your website for the answers to their search queries. By finding out what works in PPC, you can edit the keywords on your site to get a higher search engine ranking; over time this will build up free traffic.

Added bonus! If you can get both your pay-per-click ads and your organic listings on the same page of the search engine results, you'll have a search engine marketing strategy that is far greater than the sum of its parts.

SEO and pay-per-click, with a delicious keyword filling it is a search sandwich!

You've probably come across a doorway page before when you were surfing the Web. Doorway pages are similar to landing pages except doorway pages are practically empty. Doorway page are created specifically to utilize search engine optimization techniques and search engine marketing to get listed in the highest spot possible on search engine results page. Sometimes the person who stumbles onto a doorway page will need to click through the doorway page to get to the actual website that they were trying to get to and sometimes the page uses a Meta refresh, or an HTML code that instantly redirects the reader to another website.

Doorway pages often use a sneaky form of SEO strategies where the text on the page has nothing to do with the actual product that the company is selling but uses popular search terms in an effort to get a higher search engine results.

Doorway pages are essentially a form of the old bait and switch technique. For example if you were looking for a site on natural dog food and you did a Google search for natural dog food and you clicked on the first link at the top of the search engine results page because the description of that site that is listed under the link said that page was about the best kinds of natural dog food. Then after you clicked on that link you were taken to the web site of a nationally known pet food manufacturer who was trying to sell you their new line of natural dog food. That company is using a doorway page as a method of search engine marketing. By using search engine optimized text on the doorway page the company was able to get ranked very high by the search engine spider and was able to draw you in with a search engine marketing article but instantly sent you to their page hoping that you would buy their new dog food line.

Because a lot doorway pages are set up to act essentially as spam and to use any method available to get a particular website to the top of the search engine results page search engine spiders now are on the lookout for doorway page. The search engines will sometimes ban pages that use doorway pages from being indexed or showing up on the search engine results page. Doorway pages that have an instant Meta redirect or Meta refresh are usually not banned by the search engine spiders. Websites that use doorway pages will often use a redirect so that the webpage will still show up on a search engine's search results page. Some website creators try to get around the ban by creating search engine optimized and content rich doorway pages but the search engine spiders are adapting are now learning how to spot doorway pages that are set up to try and attract web traffic using black hat SEO that has nothing to do with the actual content of the website.

Search engine marketing is a great tool and most play fair. For those who do not beware, the search engines engineers sit around all day figuring out how to stop the cheaters. If you stumble across some "top secret" strategy that someone is trying to sell you, be assured that the search engines already know about and have adjusted their algorithms to deal with it. Instead of wasting time and money, just do it right.

Landing pages have the ability to grab and hold us like fly no-fly paper or repel us like jumping on the trampling. The question is what impact does your landing page have on the people who visit your website. As I talk to people who are just getting into SEO (search engine optimization), all they focus on our rankings in traffic. We have to remember that "rankings" in "traffic" or not the end but a means to the end. That end is visitors to your site that take advantage of the solutions that you offer. We can have a lot of traffic to our website but if no one is sticking around long enough to see if our solutions can solve their problems then that traffic does not mean anything.

A lot of thought must go into your landing pages, both from a search engine perspective and from a customer perspective.

Search Engine perspective:

This is covered in Search Engines 101 Paid Vs Natural Search so I am not going to go into detail here.

Customer Focused Landing Pages:

Your landing page has to do one thing, answer the questions that the searcher had in mind when he typed in his keywords. The searcher type in his search terms because he has a problem, needs a solution or is in some kind of "pain". You have about two seconds to convince him that you understand what he is going through and what he needs. The last thing a searcher wants to see is that you can jump higher, run faster and do it better than the competition. He just doesn't care (yet). Besides, most of the websites that he already visited probably stated that they do that. The challenge is to show the searcher that you have the answers to his needs. How do we do that?

1. Think of as many questions as you can that might be on the mind of a visitor to that specific landing page.

2. Choose one of the questions to be the title of that specific landing page. Use the other questions as sub points or topics in the outline of the page.

3. The content underneath each heading will be a description of the problem. It is very important that when you describe the problem you do it from your client's perspective.

4. After describing two or three scenarios that your client may fall into closeout with the paragraph that describes your qualifications for dealing with the above scenarios. This is where you put in how me years of experience, the combined experience of your team or your experience in the marketplace.

5. The last thing is to have a call to action. The idea is that if your client falls into one of the scenarios described it would be natural for them to do the call for action to get help with their problem.

For example, if someone is doing a search on long-term care insurance they may only have a general idea of what you're looking for. When they come to a landing page that has a question like "what happens to your nest egg if you suffer an illness or an injury that requires long-term care?" Then in the description of the problem they read that one year of long-term care can cost between $90,000 and $130,000 and as a result of this high costs it will either force you into bankruptcy or dependency on your children or family to take care of you. (Not a pretty picture.) After you add your qualifications, whatever they are, you put in your call to action. It could be something like "for a free quote and help in understanding what your options are fill out form below and one of our experts will contact you within the next 48 hours".

So the question remains, are your landing pages flypaper or trampolines? Customer focused landing pages are worth the time and energy to produce. If you are not sure give us a call and we will do a free evaluation of your site. This will help determine whether or not changes or in order.
